JOB PURPOSE: Provide assessments, resources, coaching, and support of people with disabilities in their search for gainful employment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Assess client readiness for employment and level of knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA’s).
• Interview for areas of interest
• Administer various skills testing
• Perform vocational assessment
Assist client in identifying barriers to employment and resources to overcome them.
• Evaluate and establish physical abilities and limitations
• Identify accommodations client can provide
• Identify accommodations that may be needed from an employer
Develop effective methods and materials for training related to job search skills. Evaluate effectiveness; customize as needed for individual clients. Model appropriate dress and professional behavior and communication.
• Resume building
• Completing an application
• Interviewing
• Communication
Prepare Individual Work Plans for each client. Track client progress towards goal attainment. File required reports for Ticket to Work participants.

Identify and target employment sources. Source, develop and maintain diverse contact base. Create and develop targeted promotional materials. Analyze employer’s environment, job requirements and client KSA’s to make appropriate recommendations. Track longevity per individual placement, per referral source, per employer, etc.

Perform administrative duties in a timely and professional manner:
• Respond to phone calls and email within 24 hours
• Maintain and secure all client files in an organized manner
• Produce routine and supplemental data and reports as requested
• Communicate with clients’ Case Managers or other designated individuals

REQUIREMENTS:
* High School or GED. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or Human Resources preferred.
* 1-3 years exp w/job placement, career development, vocational rehabilitation or similar; 2-3 years in a customer service focused environment; Exp w/ mental health or other disabled populations a plus.
* Knowledge of disability etiquette and law, job accommodations, etc. Knowledge of best practices and laws for recruitment and selection of staff.
* Knowledge of adult learning and how may be impacted and/or mitigated by disabilities. Ability to model, demonstrate and instruct in different formats.
* Ability to persuade and influence prospective employers to provide employment opportunities for clients.
* Excellent oral and written communication
* Excellent organization and time management.
* Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint; Strong internet research skills; 40 WPM, 95% accuracy.
* Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice. Drivers License and clear record. Position will involve regular travel w/in the Bexar and surrounding counties; mileage reimbursement paid.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constant – Ability to communicate with clients to determine needs, make assessments and recommendations.

Frequent – Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports.
Frequent – Ability to drive safely and recognize hazards.

Occasional – Ability to bend, kneel, reach or stoop to demonstrate life skills.
Occasional – Ability to lift, stack, load and move up to 25 pounds from varied heights.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoors: 70 % - Office environment; generally normal noise level.
Outdoors: 30 % - All weather conditions and variable temperatures.
